Is IP68 enough when a pressure sensor remains underwater for days?

In gas infrastructure, ingress protection is only part of the challenge. What matters just as much is whether the sensor can still provide accurate measurements after prolonged flooding.

That is why we tested our EPS-W pressure sensors under demanding conditions:

✔ 14 days of continuous immersion
✔ water depth equivalent to 5 meters
✔ continuous monitoring using a MacREJ5 data logger

After two weeks maximum measurement drift remained between −0.0025% FS and −0.005% FS, well within the allowable limit of ±0.02% FS.

The solution is already being implemented by one of Argentina’s leading natural gas distribution companies in installations where temporary flooding is a known operational risk.

Because in critical gas infrastructure, surviving the flood is only part of the challenge. Continuing to measure accurately afterwards is what really matters.
